When is the best time for a quiet holiday in New Zealand?

If you’re thinking about a Kiwi summer holiday, it may be best to delay your plans.
The late summer season is the busiest time for New Zealand accommodation, Statistics New Zealand figures suggest.
For the past two years, occupancy spiked to almost 80 per cent full between December and March.
By April, motels and hotels, hostels and camping or caravan parks were only about 60 per cent full.
Unsurprisingly, motels were most empty in the colder winter months, hitting their lowest occupancy rate around June.
