“Comfort food” … see, already you are smiling inside.
The words might be well-worn from four decades use now, but we still love “comfort food” and respond happily. No-one’s going tire of the idea of feeling cosy, especially if it’s as easy as popping a pie instead of a pill.
Winter’s here, peak “comfort food” season. Hearty, doughy, sticky, fatty, and cheesy foods.
Comfort food means a big casserole with dumplings, or macaroni cheese – with extra cheese – or gelatinous lamb shanks melting into a pool of dark sauce and served with a mound of buttery mashed potato.
