Listening to the wishes of the affected families, and making sure lessons are learned to avoid a repeat, will be Rob Fyfe’s priorities as he steps up to advise the Government on ​the re-entry of the Pike River drift.
“One of the things I learnt from my time at Air New Zealand was that the most important priority in the aftermath of a tragedy like this are the family, friends and colleagues of those who lost their lives,” he said on Wednesday.
The former Air New Zealand chief executive, and current Icebreaker chairman, was appointed by Andrew Little, Minister Responsible for Pike River Re-entry, on Tuesday.
