Poor families priced out of modern-day necessity – the internet

Internet remains an unaffordable luxury for some families earning less than $50,000 a year.

InternetNZ data shows families with more than $100,000 flowing in have access to the internet either at home or work.

But the majority of households earning less than half of that do not have internet at both home and work.

Communications Minister Clare Curran said the Government would work to reduce the gap between the “internet ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’.”
