Recipe: Jordan Rondel’s easy as anything chocolate coffee mousse

This is quite literally the easiest mousse you’ll ever make. When the melted chocolate hits the cold cream, it solidifies to form heavenly little ripples throughout. The toasted hazelnuts are optional, but lend a pleasant texture.

What the Government takes from a single person’s pay packet

Single New Zealand workers without children are paying less tax than they were 10 years ago, OECD statistics show.

A single person on the average wage without kids spent about 17 per cent of their earnings on tax last year.

A single person with two kids, earning about 67 per cent of the average wage, gave up 15 per cent of their pay in income tax. OECD statistics show that is about 1 per cent more than a single person without kids who earned the same amount, paid last year.

Sky TV’s exodus tough to stop, but ‘greed’ is not the problem

OPINION: Sky Television shareholders will be in a sour mood when they meet in Auckland for its annual meeting on October 29.

Sky shares have fallen 40 per cent since the company’s last annual meeting and there seems little the company can do to get out of its current pickle.

“Greed” is not the big problem.

Sky’s 705,000 satellite subscribers spend an average of $83 a month on its service, while the company made a pre-tax profit of $167m last year.
