Fletcher Building workers protested outside the annual shareholder meeting as directors discussed the company’s financial direction.
Quarry workers, truck drivers and distribution centre workers for Fletcher brands Firth Concrete, Laminex, Mico Bathrooms and Winstones Aggregates walked off their work sites on Tuesday over pay negotiations.
About 35 of the workers picketed outside the meeting at the Auckland War Memorial Museum on Wednesday morning to make their voices known to those in charge of the construction giants’ books.
As shareholders entered the meeting, protesters shouted “they are only interested in profit”.
