OPINION: Kate, Wills, Harry, Charlotte, Queen Elizabeth, George. No matter where I turn, the royal family are there.
Charity events, tennis matches, Royal visits, openings, closings: you name it and there they are, pursued by the media.
And people in the United Kingdom love them, which is quite a turn around. When Princess Diana died in 1997, the royal family’s popularity plummeted and most people thought the monarchy wouldn’t survive another 50 years.
Scroll forward to the Queen’s 90th birthday in 2016, and an independent survey found that 75 per cent of people thought that the monarchy had an important role to play in Britain’s future.
