Job cuts may be on the agenda when Spark updates financial analysts on its future strategy on Friday.
First NZ said efforts by Spark to cut costs had “stalled somewhat” and its debt was rising.
That was even though the country’s largest telecommunications firm had “by and large” delivered on the key pillars of its strategy over the past four years.
First NZ research head Arie Dekker said he would be surprised if Spark didn’t signal “further medium-term labour savings” from its moves to simplify the business and provide more customer self-service.
