Prime Minister Bill English is backing the confidence shown by one giant food multinational’s investment in the country as another backs out.
Swiss food giant Nestle, worth about US$230 billion (NZ$320b), on Tuesday unveiled a multi-million dollar facility at its factory in South Auckland.
The investment would expand the availability of gluten-free products in New Zealand, as well as create export opportunities for its Maggi and Docello food brands.
Exports from the site were already worth more than $60 million a year but the extra capacity would create more opportunities, particularly into Southeast Asia.
