Restaurant Review: Leinster Rd Bistro, Christchurch

Calm. Quiet. These are the first two things I jotted down on a Wednesday night visit to the Leinster Rd Bistro. It reads a bit boringly doesn’t it? But believe me this is high praise.

It had been a frazzled kind of Wednesday, one of those days when we had too many balls in the air. The night was wet, the bistro was hard to spot among all the medical buildings, and we’d had to circle around trying to find a park.

The last thing in the world we wanted was to end up in a place with “doof doof” music thumping out of a speaker just above our heads.

While wine and food matches are a concept that’s familiar to most, chilly winter evenings and a serious sweet tooth had us searching for more specific boozy pairings, with the only prerequisite being that one half of the match must be chocolate.
